How will Amazon's data protection policy impact your email template variables for past orders?

Customer's Personally Identifiable Data (PID) is not allowed to be stored longer than 30 days in our system due to Amazon's data protection policies

Amazon considers these data points PID:

  1. Buyer Full Name
  2. Buyer First Name
  3. Shipping Address Line 1
  4. Shipping Address Line 2
  5. Shipping City
  6. Shipping State
  7. Shipping Country
  8. Shipping Postal Code
  9. Shipping Phone Number

All email template variables will appear as anticipated if the message is sent to the customer within 30 days of order and the variables will be accurate.

If you send the messages to the customers 30 days after the order, the following will change:

[[CUSTOMER_NAME]] will populate with the placeholder "Customer"
[[CUSTOMER_FIRST_NAME]] will populate with the placeholder "Customer"
[[SHIPPING_ADDRESS_1]] will not populate with any content
[[SHIPPING_ADDRESS_2]] will not populate with any content
[[SHIPPING_CITY]] will not populate with any content
[[SHIPPING_STATE]] will not populate with any content
[[SHIPPING_POSTAL_CODE]] will not populate with any content
[[SHIPPING_COUNTRY]] will not populate with any content

As stated above, this will NOT impact messages within 30 days but the orders past 30 days will be impacted with these variables.

*You may still use these variables for past orders but keep in mind the changes mentioned.
